#1. Irudhi Pakkam (2021)
Irudhi Pakkam story & review: Debutant filmmaker Mano ve Kannadhasan’s desire to craft a whodunit thriller is clear from the beginning. With characters of all colors, he crafts an intriguing idea that not only captivates the audience but also illuminates taboo themes in society.
Though the murder mystery genre has been done to death in Tamil films, it will never go out of style. Mano is fully aware of this and has worked hard to keep the suspense high until the end of the picture. The language here is quite compelling, and it draws us into the path of the main character, Iyal (Amrutha Srinivasan), who is both innocent and intriguing in her own way.
We introduce Iyal as an independent young woman living alone in her apartment. She appears distraught and makes a note about the man in her life who won’t let her live. A stranger, whom she had allowed into her flat, murders her within minutes. The remainder of the narrative revolves around who the perpetrator is and what compelled this individual to take her life.

Inspector Kumar (Rajesh Balachandran) initially thought the case was straightforward because the victim had little contact with the outside world. However, as the film continues, her ex-boyfriend Prashanth (Vignesh Shanmugam) makes surprising admissions.
The story moves back in time, allowing us to see Iyal and Prashanth’s carefree relationship. They meet on their college campus and communicate through writing. Prashanth reads a few paragraphs of one of her unpublished manuscripts and falls for her. Iyal is a writer who believes that actual stories may have a greater effect than imagined ones. The rest of the plot revolves around a police procedural investigation and a horror aspect intertwined with the case.
Overall, Cold Case is a poorly stated whodunit mystery that fails to keep viewers’ attention throughout, despite its intriguing premise. Prithviraj has an excellent performance, and a few situations in the early half pique the audience’s interest. However, the pacing occasionally drops, which is a huge no-no in suspense thrillers.

A new technological team’s unconventional investigation thriller, featuring popular supporting actor Rahaman as the primary character, is a resounding success in Tamil. They have now dubbed it in Telugu.
16 Every detail counts story: The story opens from Deepak’s (Rahaman’s) perspective, who is now a retired inspector and disabled person living in a mountainous station. Deepak’s subordinate, Rajaiah’s son, who aspires to join the police force, meets Deepak in the hill station to learn about and solve a mystery case that Deepak previously handled. Deepak begins to recount the case, which has unpredictable outcomes.
The same night saw the deaths of two men, one shot with a pistol on the major road and the other struck by a car. A paper delivery lad becomes the first to report the incident. Further ties, such as a short filmmaking video exposing two females residing in an apartment where blood signs belonging to one of the deceased were discovered and three young, pampered MBA students walking on the same road on the same night intertwined with the crime site, add intricacy. What exactly transpired on that specific night? The rest of the story revolves around Deepak and newly appointed eager officer Gautham (Prakash).

Story: The plot focuses on two young and ambitious entrepreneurs who want to make it big in their field. They become trapped in the horrible ring of a specific investigation trail that is the result of a crime. The rest of the film is about how the couple set themselves free by getting out of the convoluted circumstances and pursuing their dream of being great entrepreneurs. A lot of questions develop as the film goes. Why were these two men targeted? Who are the masterminds behind this act? What’s the crime? Will they become successful entrepreneurs?
Performances: Although the young guns deserve credit for their faithful performance during their early phase, they could have performed better. However, we can consider their output to be quite satisfactory. Rangayana Raghu and Avinash are experienced performers who perform well in their parts.
Overall, Gultoo is a worthwhile project that deserves encouragement, despite its lack of promotions and relatively inexperienced crew.

Overall, Midnight Murders is a criminal thriller with a novel premise. Although the basic idea and murder sequences are strong, the film’s somber narration may not appeal to everyone, making it a one-time watch for Aha users.

As Vijay delves deeper into the case, he uncovers a connection between the high-profile medical mafia and both killings. Who are the medical mafia? Why do they target pregnant women? The rest of the tale focuses on how Vijay solves the case.
Overall, Crime 23 is an investigative thriller that explores gray areas in the medical system. The film’s ambiance is pleasant, although the plodding pace is often aggravating. People who enjoy gloomy thrillers should primarily watch this video. Watch it only if you have nothing else to do this weekend.

Story and Review: For his child, he is always a super hero and a wonderful father; yet, in our society, there are some things that make super heroes hang their heads. From child maltreatment to rape, dads are expected to remain numb in front of their female kids. All exceptional parents who care for their children will get shivers watching the film ‘The Great Father’. Haneef Adeni has developed a smart film. Mammooka returns with a bang.
In ‘The Great Father’, we see a Mammootty who is both fashionable and don-like on the one hand and a subtle and concerned family guy on the other. And, yeah, he carries a pistol, drives a vehicle, wears sunglasses, and has a heavy tread. What more could one want? This film cannot be classified as a usual one for fans or as too academic for serious viewers.
‘The Great Father’ has a highly pertinent societal premise: pedophilia. The intriguing thing is that Haneef tackled this matter in a very non-preachy and unusual manner, eliminating the concept of ‘victim’ and unnecessary emotional drama. When Mia (a counselor) states that nothing between the navel and the knee can take anything away from the child, we applaud her sense. We also question the crassness with which the media handles such matters.

Arya plays another intriguing character. His portrayal of a harsh and brutal police officer adds a humorous aspect at moments while being noble at others. That call from the Joker, along with Arya’s casual demeanor, is classy. The interactions between Mammootty and Arya are amusing to witness. Sneha’s portrayal of the loving mother and competent doctor works well on television.
The manner in which we’re introduced to the villain is fantastic. The loathing for the enemy is apparent. However, the absence of dramatization is refreshing. Anikha’s performance as the father-worshiping daughter is excellent. The movie contains numerous touching moments between the father and daughter. The helpless sensation David experiences when he discovers his daughter in the lift, the absence of the regular goodbye routine, or the joyous times.
The story advances impressively in this thriller-style film. So is the script. There are some amusing parts that one is shocked to see in such a serious subject. Technically, the film is sound. The music is extremely strong, and Gopi Sunder’s background score enhances the film’s atmosphere and tone. The song effectively conveys the villain’s rawness as well as the protagonist characters’ courage.
Overall, Mammootty’s performance, a sensitive subject presented in a smart and amusing manner, and class direction by newcomer Haneef Adeni are guaranteed to excite spectators. This one is a must-see this season. Of course, all dads will applaud this great father!
